Veja como expressões como “at first”, “suddenly” e “in the end” ajudam a guiar quem está ouvindo.
Expressões para marcar as etapas da história
- at firstno começo
- suddenlyde repente
- in the endno fim das contas
Apresente a impressão inicial e o que mudou
At first, an initial belief or reaction, but what later changed.
At first, I thought I had lost my keys, but they were in my coat.
No começo, achei que tinha perdido minhas chaves, mas elas estavam no meu casaco.
We were worried at first, but the driver knew another way.
Ficamos preocupados no começo, mas o motorista conhecia outro caminho.
I thought she was just late at first.
Conte o que aconteceu de repente
An ongoing situation when suddenly an unexpected event.
We were having dinner when the lights suddenly went out.
The bus suddenly stopped, and everyone looked up.
Suddenly, my phone rang: she was at the other station!
Explique a reação ou a ação
A reason, so the resulting action.
She didn't know the town, so I went to meet her.
Conte como a história terminou
In the end, the eventual outcome.
In the end, we found a small hotel near the station.
After two hours of trying, I managed to fix it in the end.
We met outside a café in the end and had lunch together.
Estados e pensamentos também podem aparecer no passado simples, como em “She didn't know the town” e “I thought she was just late at first”.
We were having dinner when the lights suddenly went out.
I was waiting outside the station for my sister.
Suddenly, my phone rang: she was at the other station!
