英語の家族の呼び方
英語で家族の呼び方と、家族を紹介する・たずねる言い方を学びます。日本語では「母」と「お母さん」、「兄」と「弟」を言い分けますが、英語では mother、brother のように一つの言葉で済みます。そのかわり、my や your を付けて、だれの家族なのかをはっきり言います。

英語の家族の言葉で気をつけること：「母」と「お母さん」、「兄」と「弟」
日本語では自分の家族を「母」「兄」、相手の家族を「お母さん」「お兄さん」と言い分けますが、英語ではどちらも mother、brother で、かわりに my・your を必ず付けます：Do you live with your parents?（ご両親と一緒に住んでいますか？）
brother・sister には年上・年下の区別がないので、言いたいときは big brother、little sister のように足します。「兄弟が二人います」のような「〜がいる」は、英語では have を使って I have two brothers. と言います。二人以上なら brothers のように -s を付けますが、child は children、wife は wives と形が変わります。
おじ・おばも、日本語の「伯父」「叔父」のような書き分けはなく、uncle、aunt の一語です。mother's の 's は「〜の」にあたります：My aunt is my mother's sister.（おばは母の妹／姉です）
