「Ana called Mia, who was at home.」(アナは家にいたミアに電話しました。) 「It is noisier when someone is cooking. Nevertheless, I would not go back to a closed kitchen.」(誰かが料理をしているとうるさくなります。 「I said Tuesday, not Thursday.」(火曜日と言いました。
Ana called Mia, who was at home.
It is noisier when someone is cooking. Nevertheless, I would not go back to a closed kitchen.
I said Tuesday, not Thursday.
what matters is と the point is が話を進めている点に注目してください。So we've agreed
- A
Ms Reed called Nina this morning, and she isn't happy.
- B
Sorry, who isn't happy, Ms Reed or Nina?
- A
Ms Reed. She wants the new website on Friday, not Monday.
- B
But we haven't finished the text, and we need new photos.
- A
I know, but what matters is that the main pages are ready on Friday.
- B
So we don't finish the rest? I don't like that.
- A
The point is that we can't do everything by Friday.
- B
OK. This plan isn't perfect, but it gives us time.
- A
So we've agreed: the main pages on Friday, the rest next week.
「What matters is the quality of the text.」(大事なのは文章の質です。) 「What matters is that the main pages are ready on Friday.」(大事なのは、主なページが金曜日にできていることです。)
「What matters most is that Ms Reed gets an answer today.」(いちばん大事なのは、リードさんが今日返事をもらうことです。) 「What matters to me is time with my family.」(私にとって大事なのは、家族と過ごす時間です。)
What matters / What matters most / What matters to me is the quality of the text / that the main pages are ready
What matters is the quality of the text.
What matters is that the main pages are ready on Friday.
What matters most is that Ms Reed gets an answer today.
What matters to me is time with my family.
「The point is that we can't do everything by Friday.」(要するに、金曜日までに全部はできないということです。) 「My point is that we need more time.」(私が言いたいのは、もっと時間が必要だということです。)
「The point is, the price isn't the real problem.」(要するに、本当の問題は値段ではありません。)
The point / My point is that we can't do everything by Friday / the price isn't the real problem
The point is that we can't do everything by Friday.
My point is that we need more time.
The point is, the price isn't the real problem.
「What matters isn't the price. 「The point isn't who made the mistake. The point is that we fix it.」(問題は誰がミスをしたかではありません。 短く返すなら「That's not the point.」(そこが問題なのではありません。)
What matters isn't the price. It's the quality.
The point isn't who made the mistake. The point is that we fix it.
That's not the point.
「Ms Reed called Nina this morning, and she isn't happy.」 「Ms Reed isn't happy, so she called Nina.」(リードさんは満足していないので、ニーナさんに電話しました。)
「We sent the texts to the translators, but they were late.」 「…but the texts were late.」(… 「The first one is cheaper, but the second one is faster.」(一つ目のほうが安いですが、二つ目のほうが速いです。)
「The text is ready. It's on the table.」(文章はできました。
Ms Reed called Nina this morning, and she isn't happy.
Ms Reed isn't happy, so she called Nina.
We sent the texts to the translators, but they were late.
We sent the texts to the translators, but the texts were late.
The text is ready. It's on the table.
We have two options. The first one is cheaper, but the second one is faster.
「The text is late and the price is high. This is a problem.」 「This delay is a problem.」(この遅れは問題です。)
「That change isn't the real problem.」(その変更は本当の問題ではありません。) 「We can't finish by Friday, and this delay will cost us money.」(金曜日までに終わらないので、この遅れのせいでお金がかかります。)前の話が一つだけなら、「That's not the point.」
This / That delay / plan / price is a problem / isn't the real problem
The text is late and the price is high. This is a problem.
The text is late and the price is high. This delay is a problem.
We can't finish by Friday, and this delay will cost us money.
The price is higher now. That change isn't the real problem.
「No, he called NINA.」(ニーナさんに電話しました。)「No, he WROTE to her.」(電話ではなく、メッセージを送りました。)
Did Tom call Ms Reed?
No, Nina called her.
No, he called Nina.
No, he wrote to her.
「She wants it on FRIDAY, not MONDAY.」(月曜日ではなく、金曜日にほしいそうです。)「I said the PRICE, not the DATE.」(日付ではなく、値段と言いました。) 「We didn't CANCEL the meeting. 「I didn't say the text was BAD. I said it was LATE.」(文章が悪いとは言っていません。
「Tom called HER, not ME.」(トムさんが電話したのは彼女で、私ではありません。)
She wants it on Friday, not Monday.
I said the price, not the date.
We didn't cancel the meeting. We changed the date.
I didn't say the text was bad. I said it was late.
Tom called her, not me.
「Never have I seen such a long delay.」 「Not only did the text arrive late, but it was also full of mistakes.」
Never have I seen such a long delay.
Not only did the text arrive late, but it was also full of mistakes.
「Ms Reed wrote to Nina. She wants it on Friday.」 「Ms Reed wants the photos on Friday, so she wrote to Nina.」(リードさんは金曜日に写真がほしいので、ニーナさんに連絡しました。) 「What matters is that the photos are ready on Friday.」(大事なのは、写真が金曜日にできていることです。) 「She needs the PHOTOS, not the TEXT.」(必要なのは文章ではなく、写真です。)
What matters to me is と The point is that のあとを自分の言葉で続け、違いを生む語を強く言ってみてください。
Ms Reed wrote to Nina. She wants it on Friday.
Ms Reed wants the photos on Friday, so she wrote to Nina.
What matters is that the photos are ready on Friday.
She needs the photos, not the text.
優先することは What matters is に名詞か that と文を続けて、結論は The point is に文を続けて示します。 「She wants it on FRIDAY, not MONDAY.」(月曜日ではなく、金曜日にほしいそうです。)
What matters is that the main pages are ready on Friday.
The point is that we can't do everything by Friday.
The text is late and the price is high. This delay is a problem.
She wants it on Friday, not Monday.
