“As a result” は原因と結果をつなぎ、“We recommend” はどうすべきかを述べます。“I was wondering if…”
This paragraph is too long.
However, the trial only lasted four weeks.
The association gives no evidence for that claim.
As a result, customers have to wait.
We recommend the curtains because they're much cheaper.
I was wondering if we could postpone it.
Proposal: Sunday opening hours at the library
This proposal compares two options for Sundays: opening all day or closing at two o'clock.
We compared them in terms of cost, staff hours and visitors.
Both sources agree that people use the library on Sundays.
The report says that about 200 people came each Sunday, whereas the staff claim that the library is empty after two o'clock.
Taken together, they suggest that most visitors come in the morning.
In terms of cost, closing at two would be the better option.
Opening all day costs 900 euros each Sunday, whereas closing at two would cost 500.
In terms of staff hours, closing at two would also be better, because the staff would work five hours instead of nine.
In terms of visitors, opening all day would be the better option, because people who work on Sunday mornings could still come.
Overall, we recommend closing at two because it's the better option on two of the three criteria.
This recommendation has one limitation: we only have visitor figures for one month.
As a result, we should count the visitors again after three months.
まず “What matters most to the people who will decide?” “in terms of cost” は「費用の面で」です。
We compared them / the two options in terms of cost / staff hours / visitors.
What matters most to the people who will decide?
We compared them in terms of cost, staff hours and visitors.
We compared the two options in terms of cost.
一致する点は “Both sources agree that…”、違う点は “whereas”、合わせてわかることは “Taken together, they suggest…” “the report says” には数字がありますが、“the staff claim” にはありません。
Last month, about 200 people came to the library each Sunday.
Sunday mornings are busy, but the library is empty after two o'clock.
Both sources agree that people use the library on Sundays.
The report says that about 200 people came each Sunday, whereas the staff claim that the library is empty after two o'clock.
Taken together, they suggest that most visitors come in the morning.
“Closing at two” はこの文の主語です。
In terms of cost, closing at two / staff hours, closing at two / visitors, opening all day would be the better option.
In terms of cost, closing at two would be the better option.
In terms of staff hours, closing at two would be the better option.
In terms of visitors, opening all day would be the better option.
“The staff give no figures for the afternoon” は、根拠が弱い部分を示しています。
Opening all day costs 900 euros each Sunday, whereas closing at two would cost 500.
In terms of staff hours, closing at two would also be better, because the staff would work five hours instead of nine.
In terms of visitors, opening all day would be the better option, because people who work on Sunday mornings could still come.
The staff give no figures for the afternoon.
“we recommend closing at two” と言い、“we recommend to close” とは言いません。
Overall, we recommend closing at two because it would cost less / opening all day because more people could come / closing at two because it's the better option on two of the three criteria.
Overall, we recommend closing at two because it would cost less.
Overall, we recommend opening all day because more people could come.
Overall, we recommend closing at two because it's the better option on two of the three criteria.
“As a result, we should count the visitors again after three months.” “However, the trial only lasted four weeks” も別の文章で同じ働きをしていて、結論を打ち消さずに範囲を限定しています。
This recommendation has one limitation: we only have visitor figures for one month.
As a result, we should count the visitors again after three months.
However, the trial only lasted four weeks.
一方、“I was wondering if we could postpone it” は控えめな依頼で、相手の好意に頼るときに役立ちます。
Let's just close at two. It's much cheaper!
Overall, we recommend closing at two because it would cost less.
I was wondering if we could postpone it.
Whereas the shops want the street closed every Saturday, residents would prefer one Saturday a month.
Most shops gained customers, whereas some older residents stayed at home.
However, the trial only lasted four weeks.
We compared the two options in terms of two criteria. Taken together, the two texts suggest that what they show. In terms of a criterion, one option would be the better option, because the evidence. Overall, we recommend an option with -ing because a reason. This recommendation has one limitation: the limit.
We compared the two options in terms of customers and older residents.
Taken together, the two texts suggest that the trial helped most shops.
In terms of customers, closing the street every Saturday would be the better option, because most shops gained customers during the trial.
In terms of older residents, closing it one Saturday a month would be the better option, because some of them stayed at home during the trial.
Overall, we recommend closing it one Saturday a month because older residents could still come to the shops on the other Saturdays.
This recommendation has one limitation: the trial only lasted four weeks.
“In terms of food” と “In terms of price” は基準、“Overall, I recommend it” はおすすめ、“but not if you're in a hurry” は限界です。
In terms of food, the new café is excellent.
In terms of price, it's a bit expensive for a quick lunch.
Overall, I recommend it, but not if you're in a hurry.
