“Could you change my booking to Saturday, please?”(予約を土曜日に変更していただけますか。) “By the time we arrived at the station, the train had left.”(駅に着いたときには、電車はもう出ていました。) “If I had a car, I could drive you to the station.”(もし車があれば、駅まで送ってあげられるのに。) “What do you mean?”(どういう意味?)
Could you change my booking to Saturday, please?
By the time we arrived at the station, the train had left.
If I had a car, I could drive you to the station.
What do you mean?
名詞は replacement(交換)です。
最後に “Could you replace it, please?”(取り替えていただけますか。) for her birthday は「妹の誕生日に」、by Saturday は「土曜日までに」という意味です。“What would you like us to do?”
- B
How can I help you?
- A
I bought this mirror here on Saturday, but it's broken.
- B
I'm sorry to hear that. What happened?
- A
When I opened the box at home, it had already broken, so I can't give it to my sister for her birthday.
- B
Do you have your receipt, please?
- A
Yes, here it is. And here's a photo of the mirror in the box.
- B
Thank you. What would you like us to do?
- A
Could you replace it, please? I need it by Saturday.
“When I opened the box, the mirror had already broken.”(箱を開けたときには、鏡はもう割れていました。) by the time(〜したときには)と before(〜する前に)を使うと、順番がはっきりします。“By the time I arrived home, the mirror had already broken.”(家に着いたときには、もう割れていました。)“The clock had broken before I opened the box.”(箱を開ける前に、時計は壊れていました。)
“By the time I called, the shop had closed.”(電話したときには、店はもう閉まっていました。)
When I opened the box / By the time I arrived home, the mirror / the clock had already broken.
When I opened the box, the mirror had already broken.
By the time I arrived home, the mirror had already broken.
The clock had broken before I opened the box.
By the time I called, the shop had closed.
“The mirror broke when I opened the box.”(箱を開けたときに、鏡が割れました。) “When I opened the box, the mirror had already broken.”
“I bought the mirror on Saturday and opened the box on Sunday.”(土曜日に鏡を買って、日曜日に箱を開けました。)“It's broken.”
The mirror broke when I opened the box.
When I opened the box, the mirror had already broken.
I bought the mirror on Saturday and opened the box on Sunday.
“The mirror is broken, so I can't use it.”(鏡が割れているので、使えません。)“It had already broken, so I can't give it to my sister.”(もう割れていたので、妹にあげられません。)“I need it by Saturday, so I can't wait until Tuesday.”(土曜日までに必要なので、火曜日までは待てません。)
“Here's the receipt.”(これがレシートです。)“Here's a photo of the mirror.”(これが鏡の写真です。) “I have the receipt and a photo.”(レシートと写真があります。) “The receipt shows the date.”(レシートに日付が書いてあります。)“This photo shows the mirror in the box.”(この写真に箱の中の鏡が写っています。)
The mirror is broken, so I can't use it.
It had already broken, so I can't give it to my sister.
I need it by Saturday, so I can't wait until Tuesday.
Here's the receipt.
Here's a photo of the mirror.
I have the receipt and a photo.
The receipt shows the date.
This photo shows the mirror in the box.
“I'd like a refund, please.”(返金をお願いします。)“Could you refund the full price, please?”(全額返金していただけますか。) “Could you replace it, please?”(取り替えていただけますか。) “Could you replace the mirror with a new one, please?”(鏡を新しいものに取り替えていただけますか。) “I'd like a replacement, please.”(交換をお願いします。)
Could you replace it / replace the mirror with a new one / refund the full price, please?
I'd like a refund, please.
Could you refund the full price, please?
Could you replace it, please?
Could you replace the mirror with a new one, please?
I'd like a replacement, please.
“Do you mean the full price?”(全額ということですか。) “Let me do that now.”
- B
We could order a new one, but it would arrive next Tuesday.
- A
If it arrived by Friday, I'd take it.
- B
I'm sorry, that isn't possible. We could give you a refund today.
- A
Do you mean the full price?
- B
Yes, the full price.
- A
OK. I'd like a refund, then.
- B
Of course. Let me do that now.
“Could you replace it, please?” “We could replace it.”(取り替えることはできます。) “We could order a new one, but it would arrive next Tuesday.”(新しいものを注文できますが、届くのは来週の火曜日になります。) “Would you like a refund or a replacement?”(返金と交換のどちらがよろしいですか。)
We could replace it / give you a refund today / order a new one.
We could replace it.
We could order a new one, but it would arrive next Tuesday.
Would you like a refund or a replacement?
I'd prefer a refund.
“If it arrived by Friday, I'd take it.”(金曜日までに届くなら、それでお願いしたいです。)
“If you refunded the full price today, I could buy another mirror.”(今日全額返金していただければ、別の鏡を買えます。)“If you replaced it by Friday, I wouldn't need a refund.”(金曜日までに取り替えていただければ、返金は必要ありません。)wouldn't は would + not です。
If it arrived by Friday / you had another mirror, I'd take it / I could take it.
If it arrived by Friday, I'd take it.
If you had another mirror, I'd take it.
If you refunded the full price today, I could buy another mirror.
If you replaced it by Friday, I wouldn't need a refund.
“Under our returns policy, faulty goods may be exchanged within thirty days.”(当店の返品規定により、不良品は三十日以内に交換できます。) “You are entitled to a full refund.” “What do you mean by faulty goods?”(不良品とはどういう意味ですか。) “Do you mean I can get a refund?”(返金してもらえるということですか。)
Under our returns policy, faulty goods may be exchanged within thirty days.
You are entitled to a full refund.
What do you mean by faulty goods?
Do you mean I can get a refund?
それから “If you had another clock, I'd take it.”(ほかの時計があれば、それをいただきます。)
I bought this clock here on Monday, but it's broken.
When I opened the box, the clock had already broken.
The clock is broken, so I can't use it.
Here's the receipt.
Could you replace it, please?
If you had another clock, I'd take it.
I'd like a refund, please.
解決案は a refund か replace it です。
